Thoughts About Prayer
Prayer is holy communication, a conversation between you and God; just come from your heart. It is fine to have learned a formal pattern of prayer or certain words to memorize. That is a good way to start and to teach a child, but a prayer from the heart, says on your mind opens up real, two way communications. Realize that energetically, the Holy Ones you speak to are right with you.
It is always nice to begin the prayer by addressing the Being to whom you are speaking, but calling out to the Divine without addressing the name still reaches the Heavens; God always knows when you are calling out to Him. Taking a few moments to pause before you begin is helpful to realize to whom you are going to speak and to gather your reverence, respect, love and adoration for God. There may be, of course, a moment of great urgency when no matter how the prayer opens crying out to God is received with Love. God acknowledges every prayer no matter how it is offered. It is not possible to pray 'wrong' when you are sincere.
The channel to connect to God is kept open and supported by Jesus, the Redeemer and Mediator. Praying in His name means to pray with His power, in His Nature and with Him in support of your expression. He is the one to deliver the communication both ways. There is actually a 'team' that is included even in your personal prayer: the Holy Ghost can inspire and attend the conversation, Christ is the Mediator and Connector, angels can be summoned to minister and assist in response to your prayer, plus your spirit can also be a more active participant if your physical you and conscious mind will invite the influence of your higher self. There is also God, our Heavenly Father, and because we have a Heavenly Mother too, we can also reverently address Her. (She knows all that is going on anyway!)
Starting with, or somewhere in the prayer, express sincere gratitude for all the numerous blessings received and also being grateful to God and your Holy Heavenly Parents who are ultimately the origin, the Divine Beings responsible for all good and blessings and for everything you can possibly be grateful for. This is not only a powerful part of prayer; it is a vital part that opens the greater connection. Pray for the spirit of worship, adoration and praise. Ask the Savior to teach and fill you with the same spirit of love He holds for the Eternal Ones. This will add a dimension to prayer that will lift this holy moment to become a sacred time, treasured and precious to both you and God.
Be genuine, share from real, be grateful, be willing to learn and do differently, and then take time to listen, be still, quiet and wait until peace fills your heart, that holy quality which will always attend when sincere, hallowed prayer is part of your life.
Thoughts About Meditation
Meditation is like liquid prayer. There are many ways to still and quiet the mind for time to be in the shared energy of the spiritual world adjacent and enmeshed with the physical. Listening to a Guided Meditation is one way to direct the mind away from its own inner chatter, concerns and thoughts of everyday life and allow you to be more aware of the wisdom and knowing of your spirit. You can also use your own skills to enter into this quiet space. Sit in a comfortable position. Tell your body, "Slowdown, slowdown". Tell your mind, "Be quiet, notice, be aware". Tell your emotions, "Be Calm, be peaceful". Bring your awareness to your breath and notice as it naturally slows down on its own accord. Add a mantra, a holy word or truism phrase, and repeat it over and over. Gently, as you stay with these ways, your body will quiet and enter into a meditative state. This is a beautiful way for you to prepare to Presence God.
Thoughts About Presencing God
To 'be still and know God' is a sacred virtue to be carefully fostered and is so worth the time to do so. Offer a humble prayer and simply ask to be in the presence of the Divine. Set your intention to reverently be before God. Gradually the Light and Love of Deity will fill your being; gently notice the exquisite grace of being in God's presence. New awareness of the nature of Holy Father and Mother will gradually fill you. Relish the stillness. Tenderly send your love, gratitude and adoration to Them with a soft radiating of your sweet feelings and devotion. Enjoy the spirit of reverence as you thoroughly bask and rejoice in the holiness of Their Presence.
